Overview
The Color Coding for Reports and Documents setting lets administrators assign color-coded visual indicators to reports and documents based on their type, status, or other criteria. Color coding makes it easy for adjusters, supervisors, and clerical staff to identify the nature or status of a document at a glance without opening it. This setting is found in the Workflow and User Access column on the Settings page.
Configuring Color Rules
Navigate to Settings → Workflow and User Access → Color Coding for Reports/Documents to manage color rules. For each rule, you can define:
Condition — The report type, status, or attribute that triggers the color (e.g., "Final Report," "Returned for Revision," "Overdue").
Color — The highlight color applied to matching documents in list views and the claim record.
Color rules are applied automatically whenever a document matching the condition appears in a list. Multiple rules can be active simultaneously, each targeting a different condition.
Where Color Coding Appears
Color coding is visible in the claim record's reports and documents tab, in report listing views, and in certain alert summaries. The colors provide an at-a-glance visual layer on top of the text-based report type and status fields.
Tips
Use high-contrast colors for critical statuses (e.g., red for "Returned for Revision," green for "Approved") so they stand out immediately.
Limit the number of active color rules to avoid visual overload — five to eight distinct colors is usually the practical maximum.
Coordinate color coding with your Report Types configuration to ensure every important report type has a distinctive visual marker.
