Overview
The Storage Summary widget on the FileTrac Settings page displays a snapshot of your organization's file storage usage. It shows the total number of files stored in the system and the total storage space consumed. This information helps administrators monitor storage consumption and plan for capacity needs.
What the Storage Summary Shows
The Storage Summary displays two key metrics:
Active Storage file count — The total number of files (documents, photos, reports, attachments) stored across all claims in your FileTrac environment. For example, "2,747 files."
Total storage size — The cumulative size of all stored files. For example, "1.1 GB."
These numbers update as files are uploaded to or removed from claims. The widget provides a quick health check without needing to run a separate report.
Managing Storage
If storage usage is higher than expected, consider reviewing the Document Library for large or duplicate files, archiving closed claims that are past their retention period, and checking whether high-resolution photo uploads can be optimized. Work with your Evolution Global account representative if you need to increase your storage allocation.
Tips
Check the Storage Summary monthly to stay ahead of storage limits, especially during catastrophe seasons when file uploads spike.
Large photo files are the most common driver of storage growth — if adjusters routinely upload high-resolution images, consider setting guidelines for photo resolution and file size.
The storage count includes all file types: documents, photos, reports, letter templates, and any other attachments uploaded to claims or the document library.
